When you think about Syracuse Basketball, one of the first things that comes to your head is almost always Jim Boeheim. The two are synonymous with each other, and have been for the last 47 years that he has been in charge. For the first time in multiple generations, we can say there is a new head coach of the Syracuse Orange.
Starting as a walk-on when he was an undergrad with the University, Boeheim molded Syracuse Basketball into what it is today.
Boeheim's over sixty years in the program came to an end yesterday as the university announced that former SU player and long time assistant coach Adrian Autry will take over the program.
With his career coming to an end, it's a good time to take a good look at the long list of accomplishments that Coach Boeheim has built over the past 47 years.
1,015 wins (Second Winningest Coach in NCAA History)
2003 NCAA National Champion
3 National Championship Appearances
5 Final Four Appearances
34 NCAA Tournament Appearances
10 time Big East Regular Season Champion
5 time Big East Tournament Champion
3 time Olympic Gold Medalist
2 time FIBA Word Championship Gold Medalist
1 time FIBA Americas Championship Gold Medalist
Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2005
College Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2006
2010 Naismith College Coach of the Year
4 time Big East Coach of the Year

These are accomplishments that you do not see ever across college basketball, and even throughout sports as a whole. It is going to be a long time until we see someone who builds a resume anywhere near what Boeheim has.
But as one era comes to an end, another opens in Syracuse with Adrian Autry taking over.
Autry played under Boeheim for the Orange from 1990-1994. He bounced around following from playing professionally for a few years to coaching different teams all around the country until finally settling back into the 315 as an assistant to Boeheim in 2011, and was named the successor of Boeheim on Wednesday, March 8th.
Autry is going to be a good change for the Orange. Much younger than Boeheim, and he's already been making a huge impact on the Orange in his time as an assistant in the recruiting realm. The list of players that have been recruited to Syracuse thanks to Autry is extensive.
It's an exciting time for Syracuse fans. A new era. Changes coming. Signs are pointing the Orange back to the top of the NCAA. They are going to be a team to watch next year.
