Journalism is an ever changing field. As the world grows, journalism and the way that we consume news will continue to change.
Social media and mobile devices have and are going to continue having a huge impact on this consumption of news.
Social media is such an important part of the world now, as virtually everyone has social media of some sort. Whether it's Twitter or Instagram, or even smaller ways of connecting and getting information like through push notifications from an app like ESPN or the New York Times, everyone has these quick ways of getting information.
Getting news and information has become so much easier than ever before with mobile devices and social media. When something happens in the world, someone is always immediately tweeting about what happened.
Media companies are adjusting to this as well, implementing the use of their social media accounts as soon as they can get information out. Push notifications have became huge for companies, getting downloads to their app for people to get information quickly with notifications.
The growth of social media and mobile devices has changed the way traditional media and journalism is consumed.
There is suddenly a much smaller need for TV news and newspapers, as people can get their news much faster through social media and their mobile devices.
This has required companies to adjust to the changing industry, and as previously stated, they have been able to through push notifications and social media websites.
This "takeover" of social media is truly just getting started. There will be more social media platforms developed over time and the ones we have now will only continue to grow. The journalism industry is going to change at a fast rate, all thanks to social media and mobile devices.
